Three People Spot ‘Pterodactyl’ in Arizona
TEMPE, Ariz. — A woman says she, her daughter and a friend saw a large bird resembling a pterosaur.
The 44-year-old woman, who provided a full name but asked to remain anonymous, told Cryptozoology News she was driving her daughter and her friend to a local market when they spotted the unusual creature on August 16 at around 7.30 p.m..
“It caught my attention because it was so big,” she said.
The sighting reportedly lasted approximately two minutes.
“I said ‘look at that bird! What kind of bird is that?’ My daughter said ‘it’s a bat’. I said ‘no, it’s too big to be a bat and it has a tail… it looks like a pterodactyl.’
The woman described the animal as featherless and having a tail “with something on the end of it”.
“It was black and it did not soar. It was flapping its wings to fly. It had scalloped wings, like a bat,” she said.

In August 2015, a man in Michigan claimed to have seen a “giant bird” with a 10-foot wingspan.
In July 2015, two people in Nevada reported seeing a creature that reminded them of a pterosaur, a flying reptile believed to have gone extinct about 65 million years ago.
Two weeks later, a minister and her daughter claimed to have seen an unidentified flying creature that looked like it was “straight out of Jurassic Park”.
Thunderbird, also known as Roc, is the nomenclature used by Native Americans to refer to bird-like creatures with reptile features that are believed to be related to the extinct pterosaurs.

Sorry way too many people in Tempe and surrounding areas. Tempe has over 200k and ASU students . Mesa, Chandler and Phoenix border it . Hard to believe a flying reptile is making the rounds in that area. I drive e through Tempe daily. Lots of airplanes landing at nearby Sky Harbor. Never seen a Pterodactyl.
