Mars Picture Shows Artificial Light, Intelligent Life?

By Cryptozoology News April 9th, 2014

A picture of Mars showing an unidentified source of light on the planet’s surface is causing a stir among UFO enthusiasts.

The anomaly on the photograph, taken last week by Curiosity Rover, reveals a light that appears to be artificial in nature.

The strange thing about this picture, blogger Scott Waring coherently notes, is the “light shining upward from…the ground. This could indicate there there is intelligent life below the ground and uses light as we do”.

Underground gas is known for causing a similar phenomenon when photographed and it tends to create optical effects to the naked eye. In 2004, researchers claimed to have detected methane on the planet, but they came back with empty hands when they weren’t able to find any signs of the gas. Perhaps they weren’t looking at the right spot, or most likely Curiosity is just a machine prone to failure.

Volcanoes are also a common geographical feature present in Mars. According to Universe Today, there are so many volcanoes “that the planet is broken down into volcanic provinces for easier reference”. A close look at the picture could indicate that the light is coming out of some sort of crater.

NASA hasn’t issued an official statement.

  1. Mitchell says:

If it was a volcano, wouldn’t it look different and full of lava everywhere?

    Gas is possible.

  2. Bale says:

Despite the light, there’s someone who notice the letters “L”, “A” and “S” at the right, under the light?? one letter maybe a coincidence, but 2 or 3??

    • John Leroy says:

I re-watched the video and I wasn’t able to see what you are referring to. Are the letters made out of rocks, like a natural formation? Or is it more like maybe some annotations by NASA or the editor of the video on YouTube?

    • dundee wullie says:

i see the letters seems theres more than 3 wierd

  3. Mmmh says:

Unfortunately I don’t see the letters anywhere.
