AUSTRALIA — A man and a woman claim they saw a “Yowie” near Braidwood, New South Wales.
The married couple were allegedly driving between Braidwood and Batemans Bay in broad daylight when they spotted the Australian version of Bigfoot.
“I pulled over…I looked in the mirror and I saw this…whatever you wanna call it, a creature, man-like creature, I saw this and my wife I think at the same time, she looked over and I said to her ‘what on earth was that?’ She saw it basically at the same time,” the man told Yowie Hunters, a group of Bigfoot enthusiasts in Australia dedicated to finding the elusive creature.
His wife, he says, looked back through the rear window of the vehicle and was able to see it “as clear as day” too. “I thought it was sort of a light color, light brown maybe. It wasn’t a person because even from where we were, it was too tall, it was big, yeah. That is something that caught my eye you know? I was wondering first, sort of, why is somebody running across there, you know? Like at that time, because there was nobody else on the road at that time. It kind of ran across behind us, but it was too big, that is the thing. It had long hair, longer than a bear,” the woman explained.
“He was crossing the road, away from us to the other side of the road,” said the man, “then he went into the bush.”
Reportedly, after noticing the creature on the rear-view mirror, the male witness turned around to take a better look at it.
“He actually looked back, sort of back you know, without stopping, he was going at a reasonable pace to get across the road and back into the bush,” he explained.
According to the witness account, the animal was crossing from the left to the right side of the road.

“Well, I watched him for more than one second, he had this vibrant hair from top to bottom, probably 7-foot-4, or possibly a bit bigger. I noticed a different type of face, not animal but human…I think it was lacking hair there…not like a gorilla, this is the general impression, that there was a face there. Definitely -the creature- not like a gorilla, but mainly because it was a very definite upright and a very definite good, strong walk…but not a walk as in you and I walk… maybe shorter steps, but tight…I can not elaborate on that one real good, cause I said it was walking away from us. Not like a person’s stride…not quite like that. I didn’t see much of the neck, or the ears…the hands weren’t swinging, just hanging down by the side.”
The man admits they were quite shaken by the event and didn’t feel comfortable staying there any longer.
“After it disappeared, it is hard to believe what we saw…but still said ‘let’s get out of here’, you know that sort of thing…not everybody react that way, we sort of said ‘well, let’s get out of here’, couldn’t quite believe what we’d seen.”
There weren’t any pictures or videos taken during the incident.
