Leprechaun Steals Woman’s Wedding Ring
By Michael Bachman January 27th, 2014M. J. was trying to replace a leaky garden hose but she wasn’t able to unscrew it. So she took off her wedding ring.
CLOVERDALE, Ore. (Cryptozoology News) — A woman says a “leprechaun” stole her wedding ring Saturday in her own backyard.
M.J., 62, is an avid birdwatcher. She likes to keep the bird feeders full and the birdbath clean.
“I love my birds. Oh lord, I live for these fellas. Got no pets, I had kids, but one is living in Europe and the other passed away three years ago. My husband lives with me but we don’t talk much. So the birds keep me busy. I’d say I spend about three hours a day in and out of the yard,” she told Cryptozoology News.
But even though M.J. is used to seeing all kinds of birds, she wasn’t ready to assimilate what happened next.
“So I come out to clean the birdbath, and when I turn on the hose I notice there is a leak on it. I always keep a spare everything. Spare bird food, spare keys, spare light bulbs, and even a spare hose. I hate going to the store, so I keep tons of stuff in the house. So anyway, I go grab the spare hose but I’m not able to disconnect the old one from the faucet. It’s so strongly attached that I decide to take off my wedding ring to see if I can get a grip. Besides, I didn’t want to scratch it.”
She figured it would be safe to put the ring on top of a little nearby rock. Unbeknownst to her, somebody -or something- else had a different plan in mind.
“So as I try to unscrew the hose, I begin hearing tiny steps that sound like birds walking on the dry leaves. But when I turn my eyes off the faucet towards the noise, I notice a little silhouette next to where I left my ring.”
Surprised by the watchful eyes, the creature grabbed the ring, “loaded it over his shoulders,” and took off running.
“It moved very fast, but i was able to see his face. It was the ugliest thing I have ever seen. It looked like a dry fig, wrinkly, and demonic. The eyes were black and the skin was dark too. He was wearing something like a plastic bag attached with a short rope to the little body. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, but I know I saw it. When he noticed me watching him, he started running and screaming . It sounded like a cat fighting, very sharp noise, and it reminded me of laughter.”
M.J. ran back into the house, screaming, asking her husband for help. By the time they came out, they weren’t able to locate the creature.
She is sure it wasn’t a squirrel, but her husband, she said, is demanding a better explanation.
“He doesn’t believe me, what can I say. I can’t blame him. I wouldn’t believe him either. I wore that ring for forty years. He is pretty upset about it, he says I need medicine,” she explained.
Leprechauns and gnomes are little mischievous creatures present in folklore legends in many countries around the world. In 1989, a dead creature believe to be a gnome was found in Spain; to this day, no scientist has been able to prove the gnome of Girona a hoax. It is determined that the tissue belongs to an unknown animal never analyzed before.
Last December, Cryptozoology News investigated a claim about a gnome interacting with a family in New Jersey.
