Yowie is Back: Australian ‘Bigfoot’ Playing with Tree Cam

A pair of Australian men who captured the disputable images of an apple-eating ape back in April are now back with new footage of the controversial creature.

Yowie, otherwise known as the Australian Bigfoot, is a monkey-like cryptid portrayed in the Aboriginal mythology and purportedly living in the Australia forests. Like his primate cousin, it is supposed to be curious and highly intelligent.

And it was perhaps that intelligence that triggered the beast to show up once again in front of the camera set up on a tree by the two members of the J & J Yowie Search organization.

The 20-second long video was taken at about 10.36 p.m. two months ago and it shows a hairy creature’s arm and part of its back as it “plays” with the camera securely attached to the tree. The animal appears to have medium length hair of unknown color, due to the images being taken in infrared mode.

If you look closer, you can also see something that resembles a paw with three long claws.

“It’s Yowie playing with my tree cam,” Jason Heal said.

Heal and his partner, Jason D., were highly criticized when they released the clearer video of a supposed juvenile Yowie in April of 2014.

“It is a surreal feeling a little like a dream where half awake and still half asleep. We know we have them here on our videos but some people need to open their mind more,” they said.

The newly released video has not generated much criticism yet, although some believe the creature could be just a koala.

The couple hasn’t given up yet, and they are determined to finding conclusive evidence of the existence of Bigfoot’s cousin. They have been looking for Yowie across most of Queensland and New South Wales National Parks since 2012, although they say they would like to travel to the US to give it a try as well.

“I decided on capturing anything & everything…photos, slideshows and videos,” Heal said.

Two of the strangest Yowie sightings occurred in the rural village of Woodenbong, located in northern New South Wales.
